Patron Saint of the Internet
Found a neat article on the Catholic blog: “What Does the Prayer Really Say?“ which talks about a priest’s idea for a prayer to Saint Isidore, the patron saint of the Internet. The story tells of the origin of the prayer and the reason for the decision to choose Saint Isidore and it also kindly suggests that you can actually pray to any saint. Here is the suggested prayer in English:
A Prayer Before Logging Onto the Internet
Almighty and eternal God,
who created us in Thine image
and bade us to seek after all that is good, true and beautiful,
especially in the divine person of Thy Only-begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ,
grant, we beseech Thee,
that, through the intercession of Saint Isidore, Bishop and Doctor,
during our journeys through the internet
we will direct our hands and eyes only to that which is pleasing to Thee
and treat with charity and patience all those souls whom we encounter.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
In our daily activities on and about the Internet, it is a nice intention to pray for guidance in all that we do while plugged-in and logged-on. Thanks Father Zuhlsdorf for your spiritual contribution to Internet culture!
